My Favourite Vlogmas’ to watch…

merry-christmas-gif-3

Every December i always enjoy being able to watch Vlogmas whilst i wrap presents up, mainly because it gets me in a more festive mood plus im just generally a nosey person so having an insight into someone elses life intrigues me. I have in fact watched many different peoples vlogs over the past couple of years but there is always a couple of people i go back too. Mainly because not only is their content good but they’re generally interesting people to watch may that be with what their life entails or they just have a very interesting personality.

The first person who i always watch is someone everyone else probably watches too, Zoella. Although through the year im not very interested in most of her vlog whether that be because im constantly busy or im just not in a youtube mood, it just so happens that every December her name is always the one i type first into the search bar. Shes someone who has a similar over the topness with Christmas what can i say.

The next ‘youtuber’ i never fail to watch at vlogmas is Tom Fletcher. Now im fully aware being a youtuber is not his main job, im aware of his huge career before the youtube community even became the slightest bit popular with people. That i know. I just find him a very interesting person and although his vlogs are very short they never fail to make me laugh.

And of course his wife follows him as one of the youtubers i watch at vlogmas, Giovannasworld. Shes hilarious. I am constantly laughing at some of the tiniest things she says in her vlogs and her little boys are the cutest i have ever seen.

Ive come to the realisation that again i continue with someone close to Tom Fletcher, his sister Carrie, Itswayspastmybedtime. I could quite literally listen to her sing forever.

Apologies but that is it. As i said im very busy everyday of the year so add Christmas pressure on top of that the spare time i get is very small meaning i dont really get that much time to watch many vlogs, that and i havent really found others that i dont get bored of after a while. Not in any way saying that they are boring but its just not content i find interesting.

Do you have any youtubers whos vlogmas you watch every year without fail?

My nieces presents?

merry-christmas-gif-3

I’ve been asked plenty a times what i have gotten for my two nieces, Olivia-May (3) and Ellie-Harlee (1 1/2) for Christmas. I didn’t particular want to write a post about everything they got as there is quite a list so i felt like i could do it in a way that gives off an idea in case other people are struggling to think of ideas for the little ones in their family. I must also stress that they both have a couple of major presents each which i will not mention in this blog post.

Olivia-May

Now with Olivia its really quite easy. Shes at that age where she is into everything. She sees an advert and immediately its ‘can you get that for my birthday’ whether she really understands what it does or not. The excitement of getting something shes seen is what really fuels her interest in a certain toy. However she happens to go through these stages where shes very obsessed with something. First it was Thomas the tank engine then its dinosaurs and even though she still is quite obsessed with dinosaurs her new current obsession in the secret life of pets and these surprise bags that are also known as blind bags.

Now these blind bags are quite possibly the bane of my life. Granted they are a very good idea but my god im sure i hear her asking for them in her sleep. The moment she claps her eyes on one shes convinced she HAS to have it, along with the other 100 that is with it. The negative to these things being they are as much as £3.50 for quite possibly the littlest toy known to man. Whatever makes her happy i suppose. Youtube also has a very big network of users who do openings so the more she watches the more she wants to get until she has a certain character. In October i got the idea of possibly putting together a large egg or even just a large bag which is filled with different blind bags, just as a bit of fun and so she could experience what everyone on the video does as she watches them with such admiration however i wanted it to be with things i knew she was interested in and played with which was even more difficult as i just knew on the lead up to Christmas she will want every single one she sees. As it was impossible to be able to afford such a large amount of these in a matter of a week before Christmas i had to start straight away in saving the money which meant i searched online for different things i knew wasn’t available in the shops near us. Im hoping with all the planning it works out in time. Wish me luck!

Another thing Olivia is very into is Play doh! Every since she was younger she was very into making things, constantly using her Play Doh! as a way to make new and different dresses or capes for her tiny Disney princesses. Now we have a very small supply of cutters and just general things that could make Play Doh! more fun for her so i went in search for different things, things i knew she would enjoy. I happened to come across a Play Doh! set specifically for making dresses for Disney princesses, result!

The last thing i am going to talk about regarding Olivias presents is this new thing out. Robo fish. When Olivia was i think 2 she got a couple of fish. Sadly for some reason fish just dont seem to like our house. They are looked after and we follow every single instruction to a t but they just dont want to stay. This means we have a very upset Olivia when we have to explain to her that they are in fishy heaven however when she saw this she was absolutely obsessed, on the floor hugging it tightly obsessed. At just £9.99 i had to buy it. A couple of days after i was in Wilkinsons with her and we were in search of a blind bag when she came across a baby dory fish. Me being uneducated i just assumed it was a swigglefish as she has those for her large stingray she has here but on closer inspection i realise it is actually a dory robo fish, again i had to buy it. I cant wait to see her face when she opens that!!

Ellie-Harlee

Ellie, bless my precious one. Shes so sensitive, always has been and probably always will be. Shes not very into much apart from wrecking the place, eating and cuddling her babas so thinking of Christmas presents was very difficult for her as there wasn’t really a range of things she was into. I felt as though it was only safe for me to go for things i knew she would 100% like as i am aware that at her age they go off things very quickly. Like her sister she likes to play (or snatch, you choose) with little dollies however the only ones she has are her elder sisters which happen to have quite small parts for her age (and my very panicky heart) so i thought it would be a nice idea to try and find some dolls that would be just for her, safe and fun.

Now as i mentioned before Ellie is very into dolls and cuddly toys. This meaning for Christmas she is pretty much suffocated in dolls and teddies. Looking around town a month or so ago when i started my Christmas shopping i was abit stuck as i didn’t really want to get her just a normal teddy, i wanted it to be a teddy that she could cuddle but also something fun that she could play with and learn along. I happened to come across a Zootopia teddy which has a switchable outfit and you are also able to learn along with it as it is electronic. For £5.99 i couldn’t resist.

I thought about getting stuff to help Ellie learn as well as play as she is very much cushioned which means shes very slow in picking things up but with the fact shes not into playing very much it can be quite difficult in finding the right toy that could grab her attention long enough. She does however (for the first time) have a big girl pram for her dolls that she can push around as the arguments in this house over whos the pram is is becoming to the point i dont want a sister killing a sister, thank you.

The last thing i am going to mention about Ellies presents is her VERY large elephant teddy. I mean an elephant for Ellie, i can never not. Every since she was younger i was buying her elephant themed things, the cuteness of them and my very amused self couldn’t stop so when i went into Wilkinsons and saw a elephant teddy i couldn’t resist. I mean granted its probably 4 times the size of her but hey at least shell have a cuddle buddy at night!

I’ll be sure to let you know how everything goes on the day!

THE CHRISTMAS TAG!!

merry-christmas-gif-3

For this blog post i thought i would do something a little different, follow the trend for a change. The idea not only for me to let you have more of an insight into the things i like but just for abit of fun.

1. What is your favorite Christmas film?

Im pretty boring when it comes to Christmas films, my favourite probably being that of most of the population. The Polar Express.

2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

No, Living in the UK snow hardly ever really exists anyway, it either dissapears witin minutes due to it being quickly followed my rain or it immediately turns into hard ice. Growing up i can never remember having a White Christmas which is upsetting because it is a dream of mine but i did have a slightly White Birthday last year!

 3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

I always spend my Christmas holiday at home with my family. We wake up in the morning in our house and during the day we take a walk to my nans. I couldn’t ever imagine spending Christmas any other way.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?

My favourite Christmas song this year is a cover of O come, All Ye Faithful by pentatonix i would attach a link but i have yet to find the official song on youtube, it is on spotify though!

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No. I think i have once but its just not something that happens in my family.

6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Rudolph, Dasher, Prancer, Donner, Vixen…..(no, no i cannot)

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?

Cooking all our Christmas treats on Christmas Eve.We do it every year and its something i always look forward to especially as i do it with my dad and its like our little bonding time together.

8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake.

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?

Those big tubs of mini cheddars. Never last long when im around!

10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

As much as i enjoy receiving Christmas presents i must admit that lately since growing up alot ive come to appreciate and enjoy the look of surprise on peoples faces and their enjoyment out of what i have given them for Christmas. So definitely giving gifts.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?

A fish. I had pestered my mum and dad for a pet for so long and even though it was only a fish i still couldnt believe i was finally allowed. It was such a grown up moment for me.

12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I dont have a dream place. I couldnt imagine spending the holidays anywhere but at home if im honest.

13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

I like to think im a pro but i do go over the top with the cellotape as i like the presents to look perfectly neat so if anything is hanging where it shouldnt i tape it down until the whole thing is nice and secure.

14. Most memorable Holiday moment?

Every Christmas that my family are well enough to celebrate it together is a memorable moment for me.

15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

The truth about Santa? What did he do?

16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?

I think i made a new years resolution once. I stuck to it for about 1 day then it sort of went out the window. Maybe next year!

17. What makes the holidays special for you?

Everything. Christmas is such a special time for me and my family and its something i will always treasure in my memories no matter how old i become. The one thing that does make it extra special is if one of my parents isn’t ill which is rare in my house but very special to my heart when it does.

And there it is guys! Thats the Christmas tag questions from Enthusiastblog.com, how many of you are doing it this year?

My Christmas List….

As cheesy at this sounds im not a big fan of Christmas lists, im not sure whether its me being an adult and knowing the pressure they give to other people that sucks the fun out of it or im simply too grown up for it but its just something i simply dont get fun from. However this year has become different for me as i now have a niece old enough to understand all about Christmas and join in with the activities that are involved in it. This also means that i am being nicely forced into joining in aswell.

I have wrote a letter to Santa, made decorations and a Christmas list. The Christmas list being something i thought i could share with you just in case you need any ideas to add to your Christmas lists, i will include links next to the products, if they have a link, just in case you want to have a peek yourselves. I would like to point out aswell that im a person who enjoys the little things in life or things i can treasure so there will be no exciting high brand stuff in my Christmas list. Some people find that laughable but thats just how i am, sorry.

  • Cheryl Stormflower Platinum Body Mist – Cherylfragrances.com
  • Memory Foam Pillow (your girls getting old)
  • Thigh high boots
  • Eyebrow Palette – Superdrug.com
  • Fluffy socks
  • Picture frames
  • Cheryl Stormflower Noir – Cherylfragrances.com
  • A puppy (girl can dream)
  • A small makeup mirror

That is my very small Christmas list. I always feel bad asking for gifts as my birthday is so close after Christmas that i feel as though i am being disrespectful to ask for things that are ridiculously over priced when my family isn’t what i would call well in money as it is. However like every other teenager i do like to push my luck and ask for a few things i know i wouldn’t get because the price and practicality of it is impossible currently, bet you cant guess what they are ey? (Definitely the fluffy socks)

Truthfully growing up i’ve come to think as Christmas being more for the youngsters of the family or more for me to spoil my parents unexpectedly. As much as i appreciate getting presents the joy 100% comes out of seeing other peoples faces when they open theirs. This year i’ve only asked my parents for 3 things, things that arent particularly expensive but things i know i will either get use out of or enjoy. Its not about showing off for me anymore its about enjoying the holidays with my family and letting my nieces boast about what Santa Claus has brought them.

What did you ask for in your Christmas list? Anything exciting?

My Christmas Playlist 2016…

merry-christmas-gif-3

As someone who is a keen listener of music I’m always eager for December to come and for me to happily be able to blast out Christmas hits until my hearts content. Over the years I’ve heard many different songs, someone being covered by different artists which means they bring along a different sound then the original or just generally new songs. However every once in a while you uncover an old gem that you can’t help but replay until the lyrics are tattooed on your brain for the next fortnight. Yesterday i happened to have a cleaning day which meant it was the perfect time to have this music session, that is also how i got the thought of this post.

My Christmas Playlist 2016

  • Pentatonix – O Come, All Ye Faithful.
  • Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas

20 Blogmas ideas….

merry-christmas-gif-3

As this year is my first year doing Blogmas i didn’t quite realise the struggle it would be to do a post everyday and be able to come up with good content. With my blog specifically being around my mental health and my general life it made it extremely difficult to think of ideas especially when i didn’t want to trail too much off the subject that my blog is about. My first thought when i decided to get involved was that i could do several blog posts in advance then i wouldn’t be struggling so much as i could always keep one blog post ahead of myself, this hasn’t happened. In fact I’ve struggled to even manage to write blog posts what with being so poorly, somehow however ive managed it so far.

I’ve been lucky that i had enough posts to make up the first few days so i could properly relax and help myself recover but they soon went down and i found myself stuck. I had no energy and absolutely nothing to write about. I hadn’t brought anything nor had i done any activities that i could share with you all. This made me think of this post. Im aware this post is going around quite alot but i have never seen a post where the things i could be interested in writing about are in one place so i decided to do my own. Here are 20 ideas you could use for your blog this December:

  • Festive Haul
  • Past Christmases
  • Letter to Santa
  • Recipe for your favourite Christmas treat
  • Decorating for Christmas
  • Charity at Christmas time
  • Guide to saving for Christmas
  • Christmas Day look
  • Whats on your Christmas list
  • A day in the life
  • Product reviews
  • Holiday crafts tutorial
  • Stocking stuffers ideas
  • Make your own Christmas decorations
  • Christmas Playlist
  • Must have advent calendars
  • Festive makeup looks
  • Christmas tag
  • Christmas day Haul
  • Top buys under £20

I hope they help some of you in finding more ideas for this festive time of year!

My favourite Christmas treat recipe….

merry-christmas-gif-3

As you’ve probably seen me write about quite alot already in my blog posts me and my family are quite the keen bakers, i am no way saying we’re any good at it because half the time we completely give up on the recipe and create our own style or just go by hand. I mean we like to be creative with the things we make so often we will add different sorts of flavors in the recipe to see if it makes any different or whether the taste is something we like or dislike.

Something we do make every year is of course mince pies which is odd in our house as we dont make them until Christmas eve this meaning we dont usually eat them over the December period and plus my dad isn’t keen on mince pies anyway. However we still make them every year and we always go overboard so there is always enough to go around.

We make the pastry from scratch, our pastry of choice being sweet pastry as thats just something we prefer. We use an old recipe book that has been in our family for quite a while ‘Classic Cakes by Barbara Maher’ I found a link to buy it on Ebay! Click here to view it!

Now for sweet shortcrust pastry you are going to need:

  • 6oz/170g Plain flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4oz/110g butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1oz/25g caster sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • 2 tablespoons of water (if needed)

Depending on how many we plan to make we usually double the ingredients just because it will take up less room in the fridge when it needs to be chilled plus we wont be mucking around making loads of different batches of pastry all day.

Sift the flour and salt into a large bowl; drop in the pieces of butter and using your fingertips lightly rub the butter with the flour until it becomes that of a bread crumb texture. Fork in the caster sugar, 1 egg and if the mixture seems too dry add in a tablespoon of the water. Lightly mix all the ingredients into a smooth pastry. If the pastry seems very dry add the remaining tablespoon of water. The texture of the pastry should be soft but should not be sticky. We have found that 90% of the time the water isn’t needed as the pastry is naturally quite sticky but with the kneading the pastry and adding abit extra flour it tends to become more of a soft dough.

If you dont know what kneading it, it is where you work with the pastry with the heel of your hand and you blend it by pushing it away from you, remember though it is always best to have a little flour on the side before you do this to prevent any sticking or any struggle getting it off.

Now this is where me and my dad makes everything a little different as in the book is says to wrap closely in cling film and chill for 30 minutes. Now as we make double in one time and it usually takes up the half of the day we have free we put the lot in the fridge for the night as the very first year we tried it we felt like 30 minutes didn’t feel enough. Now we arent professionals in anyway we just go by what we feel is right at that time and this has worked for us for years.

Before you kneed the dough you can add extra flavours in it. Last year me and my dad experimented with cinnamon and honestly it tasted so much better with the mince pie filling and gave it that extra little kick of Christmas it was great! I must advice though as cinnamon can be quite strong start with little amounts and build up.

As all this preparation is made on the day before Christmas eve it means when Christmas eve comes we are able to get straight to the baking.

For the mince pies we dont really make the filling from scratch usually because its much easier to buy jars of it plus we dont really have a recipe that we could use. We buy at least 4 big jars of the filling mainly because my brother is an absolute pig. Lets leave that sentence there.

So whilst my mum and usually my brother as even though he doesn’t live with us anymore he still comes down for the Christmas period, go out and buy the fresh fruit etc that we need for Christmas day me and my dad basically convert the dining room into an extra kitchen. As he uses cutters to measure out the pastry or even last time he had to use the top of our sugar tin as there wasn’t a cutter big enough for what we needed. So whilst he cut out the pastry i buttered the cupcake tins we use so they wouldn’t stick and then wold proceed to open the mince jars and put roughly 1 and a half table spoons in. We did this for every one then eventually once they were all filled we cut the lids out and just simply used an egg brush to put water around the edges to help the lid stick.

To cook them we simply put them on 190 for 10 minutes then we turn the tray around and cook for a further 10 minutes. Then ENJOY.
